Mady Fitzgerald is an Instructor and Advisor with TRIO Student Support Services. She received her B.A. in English Literature from Appalachian State University in 2010 and after a few adventures traveling across the country, she returned to graduate with her Master's in English in 2014. After too many jobs to count, and a stint as an Americorps VISTA, she returned to Appalachian to work with first generation students. Community engagement is an integral part of her classroom. She uses her backgrounds in volunteerism, rhetoric, and composition to encourage students to reflect in an impactful and intentional way which encourages a deeper connection with the material and the local community.
Mady loves her job and working with her students, but her world happily revolves around her family which consists of her two young daughters, two dogs, two cats, and her husband that keeps everything in orbit.
