Full Course Title: 
Wakanda Warriors: Black Male Excellence

This course will examine the parallels of the movie Black Panther and how the warrior spirit is intertwined in Black males in higher education. Different topics relating to the positive development of Black males as they start their higher education journey and identifying strategies to continue success to graduation and beyond.

NOTE:  Enrollment is restricted to members of the Black Male Excellence Residential Learning Community.

Will Sheppard

Will Sheppard

Dr. Will Sheppard is the Assistant Director for West Campus in University Housing, Adjunct Faculty for the College of Education, and First Year Seminar. As a first-generation college student, Dr. Sheppard's academic focus areas are supporting student's overall success and a sense of belonging in higher education. Dr. Sheppard was co-awarded the National Resource Center for the First Year Experience and Students in Transition, Paul P. Fidler research grant with Dr. Brandy Bryson on Black Male Brilliance: Defining Success of First Year Black Men at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Dr. Sheppard holds a Bachelors in Physical Education K-12, Masters in Exercise Science, and a Doctorate in Education Administration. Fun fact, he is a tumbling coach with over 20 years of experience.
