General Education Council

The General Education Council is responsible for providing vision for the general education program. Members review and approve general education themes, courses, and policies that are referred by the Faculty Coordinating Committees and submit their approvals to the Academic Policies and Procedures Committee.  The Council also guides assessment of the General Education Program.  Meetings are open to the entire campus community. 

Meeting Schedule

NOTE:  All meetings are held via Zoom, beginning at 3:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.   Zoom link for all meetings.

The meeting dates are:

  • September X, 2024 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by August 15, 2024)  AGENDA
  • October X, 2024 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by September 15, 2024)   
  • December X, 2024 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by October 15, 2024)
  • January X, 2025** (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by December 3, 2024)
  • February X, 2025 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by January 15, 2025) 
  • March X, 2025 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by February 15, 2025) 
  • April X, 2025 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by March 15, 2025) 

**The January 2025 General Education Council meeting is the deadline for having proposals approved for General Education credit in the 2025-2026 Undergraduate Bulletin and the 2025-2026 General Education Checksheet.  Proposals  approved after January 2025 will not be added to the Undergraduate Bulletin or General Education Checksheet until 2026-2027. If you wish to have your course carry General Education credit in the 2025-2026 Bulletin and General Education Checksheet, your Dean's Office must submit your Part C proposal to the General Education office by December 3, 2024.
